First, I would like to see some physical evidence to back up Mr Lewis’s claim that there is evidence contrary The Henderson fantastic reputation because to this point, it’s no more than hearsay.
I would like to challenge Ivan Lewis to spend a day at The Henderson Hospital. See first hand how hard people work there, the dictation shown by staff and residences and the levels of motivation needed to make change become reality. Only then could he make an informed decision about what takes place there. Then again, afterwards he may need some therapy himself
I would also like to challenge St George's Mental Health NHS trust to produce real hard evidence as to why it is seeking the Closure of The Henderson. Not just about the current situation with referrals because this has only taken place because of the confusion over funding. Real evidence, such as true cost, funding, success rates and so on.
I would also like to see real facts from Ivan Lewis, if there is evidence contrary to The Henderson fantastic world reputation, let’s hear it. Show the detrimental evidence, that’s so strong and convincing, that you are prepared to sit back and watch The Henderson go down the pan. As it is, we have has nothing more from Mr Lewis than, than carefully crafted spin.
With the reported cost of detaining people in Police stations being £460 a night and again, the reported fact that 50% of acute beds in psychiatric hospitals in the UK are taken up with patients with Personality Disorders. How do we aspect to make ground without pioneering, ground breaking centres of excellence such as The Henderson?
If The Henderson and other units based on its model are aloud to close, our ignorance WILL cost lives. Let’s be careful what we wish for, it might just come true.
